Crap. My ITB is seriously cranky. I’m talking big time. I went out for a run yesterday in the rain and wind, which felt great. However, dodging all those puddles must have pushed my ITB over the edge. Today it’s hurting even when I walk. So, no long Sunday run for me. In fact, no more running for a few days. I’m desperate now. I will do everything and anything to ensure a more pain-free running experience for the New York Marathon. Meditation, acupuncture, DMSO, glucosamine, massage… here I come..

That sucks, Kathy. I hope you go to NYM and give it a shot anyway. There will be more marathons and the roads will be there again when your knee heals, but there will only be one 2010 NYM. You’ve come this far, and I’m no expert but your training has been awesome and you may be able to do OK with a few extra days of rest.I wonder, too, if I have ITB. The area of pain is similar, although my injury was diagnosed as lateral ligament contusion. I know stretching, resting it and ice help me, but I can’t shake my cranky knee either, even when walking.Feel better, Kathy.

Thanks so much Alastair. You’ve been my virtual coach and mentor during this entire training period so this means a lot coming from you š I’m going to be at the start line of the NYM, come what may. I might not be fast, but I’m going to finish! Then we can meet up, I can show you my medal, and we can swap knee stories!
